Fitness and Weight Loss Tips

  • Drink plenty of water.  Our bodies need a lot of water.  Water is not just a way to flush toxins, but you will generally feel better when you are hydrated.  And remember water has zero calories!
  • Eat fresh fruit instead of fruit juice.  Fruits are an excellent source of vitamins and fiber.
  • When that sweet tooth needs satisfying, try drinking herbal tea.  Try apple cinnamon, almond or orange.  The hot tea will fill you up and the sweet aroma will help satisfy that craving.
  • Watch your portions!!
  • Don’t be a couch potato!  Get outside and walk!
  • Use the stairs instead of the elevator when you can.
  • Turn on some music and dance!!
  • Drink a glass of water before you start a meal.  Water naturally needs some space so that you feel fuller without actually having to stuff yourself.
  • Want to burn 10 calories per minute? Jump rope!!
  • Every minute counts.  Just because you have a full schedule, don’t eliminate exercise for the day.  If you are crunched for time, crunch your routine.
  • Did you know that you can build strong, sexy muscles just by using your own body weight?  Try sets of lunges, crunches, squats and push ups.
  • Visualize your goal.  Want to get in those skinny jeans?  Put a picture on the fridge, or somewhere you can see it.
  • Keep a food log.

Hi Linda,
I live in the Julington Creek area of St Johns County and I am looking for a personal trainer and nutritionist. I am a fairly recent vegan (since July) and although I have done a lot of research I am somewhat confused as to what to eat to lean out and build muscle. Is that something you can help me with? What are your rates?
